What went down in Charlottesville this year will go down as one of the biggest negative marks in 2017. A Nazi terrorist ran down protesters who were there to spread positivity, leaving many hurt and one dead. Many have tried to give back as much as they can but one company out of California has raised over $40k for the Charlottesville victims with.
The people behind Lipslut, a company created by three college students in San Luis Obispo, watched the nightmare play out in Charlottesville along with the rest of the country and were obviously appalled. In less than a week, one of their liquid lipsticks managed to rake in almost $50 grand for the Charlottesville victims.
People were more than willing to buy some makeup to help, but it doesn't hurt that Lipslut's liquid lipstick had a name many could get behind. "F*ck Trump" is its name and it has been selling well ever since Lipslut launched it right after Donald Trump, unfortunately, took office at his official inauguration.
Giving back isn't new for Lipslut. When you head to check out on their site, you can choose one of the listed charities that part of your purchase can go to. One of Lipslut's founders, Katie Sones, told The Hollywood Reporter, "Lipslut is already a political and philanthropic brand, so we already have a big platform for this, and I just thought, 'How could we not donate in the face of this tragedy?"
So when the Charlottesville victims were added to the list, people didn't hesitate to choose that as their choice. Especially after seeing all the footage of the car attack, and the attack on Deandre Harris.
Only 20-years-old, Harris was at the Charlottesville rally to showcase his support against the "Unite the Right" folks. Instead of things being peaceful, he was outnumbered and attacked in a parking lot. While there's video, to date no arrests have been made.
Luckily for Harris, donations have been coming to help with medical costs. His medical costs and those of the other Charlottesville victims are getting covered by many, including Lipslut and their fantastic "F*ck Trump" lipstick.
