Here's How The New Moon In Taurus Is Going To Shake Up Your Week

It's that time of the month again. No, not that one. It's new moon time! On Tuesday, May 15, there's an exalted new moon in Taurus, a sensual earth sign. This is usually an easy, favorable time, but this month's new moon is far from usual. On the same day, Uranus, the planet that rules innovation and change, also moves into Taurus for the first time since 1942. The move marks a huge planetary shift, and it's not going to be easy.

As a slow-moving outer planet, Uranus only changes signs every 7-9 years, so its shift into a new sign marks the end of a global era rather than just a temporary personal shift. This transition is often marked by enormous political, geological or social events.

For the past eight years, Uranus was in fiery Aries, a sign that encourages self-actualizing action. Innovation + action = HOLY SH*T THE WORLD IS ON FIRE. That's basically been the vibe since 2010: Lots of upheaval, both good and bad.

By contrast, Uranus' move into chill, sensual Taurus might seem like a relief — except that Uranus literally rules change, while Taureans would rather die of bedsores than change a single thing about their current situation. This incompatible placement can bring about stubborn regressiveness, among other things.

Would you like an example? Okay. When Uranus last moved into Taurus in 1934, Hitler rose to power.

Wait! Breathe. This week is just the very beginning of Uranus' move into Taurus. There's no use panicking over things that haven't happened yet, and you always — always — have agency over your own life regardless of the planets.

At the same time that Uranus in Taurus causes a global shift, it also causes a shift in the area of your chart ruled by Taurus, which varies by sign. It may also call you to re-examine your commitments, your material world, or your home base.

But this is not the time to dwell on what was. Reflect, and then do the Scary Thing that most of us avoid at all costs: Imagine the future, sans all the cynicism.

That's where the new moon in Taurus comes in handy.

New moons are traditionally associated with new beginnings, so a Taurus new moon is a great opportunity to manifest stability, especially as it concerns money, commitment or love. This is made difficult by the whole "time to shake things up!" message of Uranus and the other planets, but it's still a worthwhile endeavor. Embracing change and stability at the same time — the oxymoron that, in large part, will define the next eight years.

When it comes down to it, the moon is friendly when it's in Taurus. Allow the moon to be your guide this week. As much as you can, channel its energy. Ground yourself in your physical senses. Cleanse your space. Set clear intentions.

x before the rest of the planets get the best of you. Who knows, maybe you'll actually make it through unscarred! LOL, yeah right.
