Less than two months after Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West welcomed their daughter Chicago, their third child together, it sounds like she's already considering her fourth — and her last.
In an exclusive interview with Elle, the 37-year-old reality star explained exactly why she won't have more than four children: "I don’t think I could handle more than that," she admits.
"My time is spread really thin. And I think it’s important that in all couples, the mom gives the husband as much attention as the kids," Kim explained. Fair point.
You have to wonder if Kim's terrible pregnancies with North and Saint contributed to that decision, too: She suffered from a condition called placenta accreta during both deliveries, which ultimately led her to seek out a surrogate to carry Chicago.
“After giving birth, your placenta is supposed to come out. But mine was stuck. That’s what women usually die from in childbirth — you hemorrhage and bleed to death and they can’t stop it," Kim said. "To get it out — it’s so disgusting — the doctor had to stick his whole arm in me and scrape it off. It was the most painful. To this day, if you mention it to [Kris Jenner], she’ll cry. It was traumatic.”
But surrogacy had its drawbacks, too, raising questions about what Kim would do with her potential fourth child: "I hated being pregnant," she said. "But as much as I hated it, I still wished I could have done it on my own. The control is hard at the beginning."
Pregnancy and surrogacy drawbacks aside, the idea of bringing a fourth child into the world is still definitely on Kim's mind — not that she's in any rush.
"My home and my heart feel really full right now, in the best way," she told Elle. Aww!
